Cynthia Naumes
Cynthia Naumes is a fifth-generation Southern Oregonian whose ancestors founded a pear and apple growing enterprise that expanded over the generations into a thriving corporation, Naumes, Inc., one of the largest pear growers in the United States. The company is a major Rogue Valley employer with a longstanding commitment to community development, offering support through youth programs, scholarships, training, and countless hours of volunteerism by its employees, who are actively encouraged to work on cooperative endeavors throughout Southern Oregon.
A sense of kinship and unity was instilled early in Cynthia's upbringing. Her mother, Bobbi Naumes, was active in the community by being a member of civic organizations as well as being a supporter of groups that give to those in need. She presided over the Junior Auxiliary as a Pink Lady at RVMC, a member of Bear Creek Rotary when she represented as the longtime director of Civic Outreach, a welcoming wagon for newly opened businesses and owners that brought together new business owners and executives for networking and information exchange for Southern Oregon. She is a Past President of the Medford Soroptimist club and started the Rogue Riviera's, a local chapter of Red Hat Society and honored by the local Soroptimists as a "Woman Helping Women" when she opened "My Sister's Closet", a clothing bank for women in need, who were entering the work force. Long an advocate for women, Bobbi founded "My Sister's Closet," a clothing cooperative that provided professional attire to women entering or re-entering the workforce; Sphere many fundraising events for St. Mary's High School and donated numerous volunteering hours at several non-profits.
Happiest with a houseful of children and visitors, Bobbi hosted exchange students and baseball players from the local Minor League team. Natural ambassadors for Medford , both Bobbi and Pete (Cynthia's father) were unfailingly enthusiastic about Southern Oregon 's potential, and each contributed innumerable hours to its success through their business activities and professional affiliations. Pete served on many boards and committees including the Medford Urban Renewal Agency board, Table Rock Irrigation Development District, and St. Mary's School Board.
Raised in this passionate and dedicated family, Cynthia continues to build on a strong legacy of community involvement through her own volunteerism. Youth advocacy is her passion and her many volunteer activities include Community Works, Children's Advocacy Center, Southern Oregon Easter Seals, Rogue Opera's educational enrichment program in the schools, Rogue Valley Search and Rescue and amongst other community involvement . A longtime sports enthusiast, Cynthia coach and sponsors youth sports such as NORPAC'S Rogue Valley Wranglers Hockey Team, Independent Collegiate Southern Oregon Riverdawgs Baseball Team and other local sport organizations.
After Bobbi's passing in 2006, and over a decade of being dormant, Cynthia reopened a long life passion of her Mother's dream, "My Sister's Closet " to clothe women and now men entering or re-entering the work force by referred organizations such as the job-counsel, temp agencies, community organizations, high schools, colleges, universities and potential or existing employers.
